Hope High School provides a counselling service for pupils. Counselling support can be arranged with the school counsellor who is an experienced and fully qualified therapist.
Counselling involves the provision of professional assistance in resolving personal or psychological problems, helping the young people to bring about effective change or enhance wellbeing.
The counsellor is able to offer a range of physiological approaches, counselling is a talking therapy where a trained therapist listens to a person to help them to find ways to deal with emotional and behavioural issues.
Counselling can help young people to cope with;
- Difficult emotions
- Anger issues
- Childhood trauma
The counselling sessions are held face to face and may last a few weeks or months.
Pupils benefit from a safe space in which to explore aspects of their life or emotions which may be a source of difficulty.
