School has been working with Lancashire Wildlife Trust to develop a large part of the grounds to accommodate Forest School. Forest School is now part of our teaching curriculum led by Mr Davison and of course, Mr Downes. Forest School offers our children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem through hands on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. In the coming weeks, we'll also be developing a wetland area, that will engage our pupils with wildlife in its own habitat; useful for cross curricular links with Science!

The development includes an outdoor classroom, with a removable canopy, log bench seating and a fire pit, as well as raised beds which we hope to engage members of the local community in. Further to this is a den making area, where the children can work together to achieve shared success.

Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.
